Nelson dairy robbed

1 min read

Nelson Police are investigating a robbery at the Brook Street Store last night.

At about 7.15pm a male wearing a balaclava entered the shop. He demanded that the store assistant open the cash drawer and threatened to harm her if she did not cooperate.

The offender was carrying an item under a scarf which had the appearance of a pistol barrel. He took a sum of cash from the till before leaving without further incident.

The shop assistant was left shocked and shaken by the experience.

The offender was wearing a black knitted balaclava, black track pants and a plain black polar fleece jacket with a zip down the front.

The shop assistant believed the person was a male of Caucasian descent, possibly middle aged, slim build with brown eyes and red cheeks. He is thought to have left on foot from the shop.

Detective Sergeant Langridge of the Nelson Police is keen to speak to anyone who may have seen a person fitting this description entering or leaving the store around this time. Please call Nelson Police, Ph 546 3840
