Mt Wellington Highway at the junction with Hamlin Road is closed following a crash after a driver fled from Police.
The crash happened shortly after 5am. The driver was stopped on Te Horeta Road and after initially speaking with Police the driver has then fled. Police followed in the direction the driver fled in.
The driver was found a short time later on Hamlin Road at the junction with Mt Wellington Highway. The driver has crashed into a power pole. The driver has sustained moderate injuries and has been taken to hospital. A passenger who was in the car has fled from the crash scene.
Motorists are asked to avoid the area and diversions are in place.
