Sergeant Dan Ralph and nearly 40 staff from the Royal New Zealand Police College and Wellington District will convoy to the Wellington regional children’s hospital on Monday.
Instead of Santa’s sleigh, they plan to arrive in a variety of police vehicles laden with presents for hospitalised children needing a bit of Christmas cheer.
It’s the second year Dan has run the initiative and he says the generosity, time, and efforts of both police and hospital staff make the day extra special for the children.
The Officer in Charge of Driver Training at RNZPC, Sergeant Ralph says “Staff from around the Wellington District and service centres have been fantastically generous especially when there are many other worthy causes out there.
I want to acknowledge their support as well as those staff who have organised gift collection boxes and delivery of items.”
If media wish to attend the big Christmas Toy Drop they can RSVP media@police.govt.nz for the attention of Jillian Reid.
