Police are continuing their investigation into an aggravated robbery which took place at the BNZ bank in Jackson Street, Petone at around 12pm yesterday.
The male offender is described as being of Maori or Pacific Island descent, with a stocky build. He was wearing a light coloured top, dark pants and a black beanie.
He had a bag slung over his shoulder.
The man approached the counter, had a conversation with staff before presenting a note threatening them. No weapon was seen or used in the robbery.
The male was handed an amount of cash and he left the bank on foot and walked east on Jackson Street.
Detective Sergeant Ben Quinn, of the Wellington Crime Squad says “We are very concerned, as enquiries revealed the male went into the Kiwibank initially to write the note that he later took to BNZ. He went into the bank, wrote the note on their slip and then left to present it at the BNZ. There was no attempt to use the note at Kiwibank nor to interact with staff there, however as you can imagine we are very keen to find this man.”
Police are appealing for any sightings of a man fitting this description in the Jackson Street vicinity about 12pm yesterday.
