Police investigating an incident in Mount Maunganui in the early hours of Saturday morning have identified and arrested the man believed responsible.
Security footage of a man and a vehicle were circulated publicly yesterday. Meanwhile police continued with a number of enquiries which resulted in an individual being nominated as a possible suspect.
This morning a 35-year-old man from New Plymouth was arrested at a motel in Mount Maunganui. He has been charged with abducting a woman for sex and will appear at Tauranga District Court tomorrow.
