Operation Meade release III

Hamilton police investigating the suspicious death of a man in the North of the City yesterday have arrested a man in relation to his death.

Detective Senior Sergeant Ross Patterson, of the Hamilton CIB said a post-mortem examination to be conducted in Auckland would hopefully tell Police how 38-year-old Sedrick Tilley TIATIA suffered his fatal injures.

"We are currently conducting five scene examinations at present including one at the Winstone Ave address in Chartwell where Mr TIATIA died.

"Hopefully, by later today the scene at Winstone Ave will be sufficiently progressed to allow us to remove his body and conduct the post-mortem."

Mr Patterson said after what was a busy night for detectives, who searched a number of Auckland properties, a 19-year-old man handed himself in to Counties Manukau Police about 7am today.

"That person has been charged with murder and will appear in the Hamilton District Court tomorrow.

"Despite this arrest, Police are still searching a number of properties and a vehicle as they search for forensic evidence to build our case."

Mr Patterson said detectives still wanted to hear from anyone who may have seen or heard anything suspicious in or around Winstone Ave between 1-2pm yesterday.

"We have spoken to several members of the public already and are very grateful for their assistance.

"Anyone else who may have information who hasn't already spoken to investigators is asked to ring the Hamilton Central Police Station on 07 858 6200."
