Man arrested in Clyde after car set on fire

1 min read

A 29 year old Dunedin man is facing a number of charges as a result of an incident in Clyde today.

At about 11.30am today police were called to a vehicle on fire in Miner’s Lane, Clyde where a firearm was located.

Police enquiries later established that the driver of the vehicle was at an address in Sunderland Street, Clyde.

Upon police arrival at the address the man attempted to leave the property. When confronted by police the man threw a stubby beer bottle at a police officer, causing a minor injury to the police officer.

The man then threatened a woman at the address with a knife.  Police negotiated with the man for a short time before he was arrested.

The woman threatened by the man was known to him, and was not injured in the incident.

Police enquiries into the incident are still being completed.

The arrested man will be appearing in the Dunedin District Court tomorrow.
