1 min read

At approximately 3pm today a car was reported to have been stolen from a woman at gunpoint by two men in the Hamilton suburb of Chartwell.

The offenders fled the scene in the stolen vehicle (a black Daihatsu hatchback) heading North.  The vehicle was identified by a passing Police officer in Huntly just after 4pm. Following a short pursuit and the deployment of road spikes, the vehicle was stopped in Ngaruawahia and the sole occupant apprehended.  Fortunately no injuries were sustained by anybody as the events of the afternoon unfolded.

A 25 year-old man will be appearing in the Hamilton District Court tomorrow on aggravated robbery charges in relation to the incident.

Police seek urgent assistance from members of the public to identify and locate the second person involved in the robbery.  He is described as male, Maori, of solid build, early to mid 20's and wearing a long sleeved light-coloured top.

If anybody has information could they please contact Hamilton Police on 07 858 6200 or anonymously call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
