Lower Hutt Homicide Investigation

This afternoon Police have arrested and charged a 29-year-old male with accessory after the fact to murder.

The Male from Lower Hutt will appear in the Lower Hutt District Court on Saturday the 7th of February 2014.

This charge relates to the death of a Male at an address in High Street, Taita.  Police can now name the deceased male as 39-year-old Lower Hutt man Adam Watkins.  A Post Mortem will be carried out within the next few days.

Detective Senior Sergeant Warwick McKee from the Wellington District CIB states "Police are making good progress with this investigation. Detectives continue to speak to a number of witnesses and are gathering good evidence and information from the public."

"I can also confirm that a firearm has been recovered at a separate location in respect to the homicide."

"It is pleasing to make an arrest at this early stage however there are still a number of persons that we need to speak to and to establish who is responsible for the death of Mr Watkins."

"Again it is improtant for any persons with any information to come forward and to contact Police ".
