Kapiti-Mana Police arrest and charge 33-year-old male on fraud charges

A 33-year-old Upper Hutt man will appear in the Porirua District Court on Monday 2 September 2013 facing 20 fraud-related charges after Kapiti Police, assisted by Wellington PSU, executed a search warrant on a Merton Street, Upper Hutt address on Saturday 31 August 2013.

Constable Nathan Dickey says the search warrant was in relation to numerous fraud complaints Police received last week.

Police initially received one complaint from ANZ in Paraparaumu with regards to a male using a modified driver's licence to obtain account information.

After Police made further enquiries, complaints were also received from Kiwi Bank Auckland, Kiwi Bank Otaki, Kiwi Bank Waikanae, ANZ Palmerston North, ANZ Paihiatua, ANZ Waikanae, ANZ Paraparaumu and ASB Paraparaumu.

The 20 charges this male is facing include altering a document with intent to defraud, using a document for pecuniary advantage, using a document for other product and obtains a document.

The male also faces one charge of breaching parole release conditions.

Police would like to thank the public in assisting them to identify this male and bring his offending to an end.

Enquiries are continuing to ascertain whether this male is responsible for any further fraud offences.
