Police are continuing to investigate a crash which claimed the life of a 14-year-old boy yesterday in Turangi (Sunday, 15 September).
The crash occurred on Waimarino Road, a private forestry road, at approximately 12.25pm.
There were three occupants in the vehicle; a 14-year-old boy, a 16-year-old boy and a 15-year-old girl. All of the occupants were out of the vehicle when emergency services arrived.
Police understand that the 14-year-old was the driver of the vehicle but enquiries are ongoing to confirm that information and to establish the exact circumstances that led to the crash. Those enquiries include interviews with the survivors, a post mortem examination and examination of the vehicle. An examination of the scene was completed yesterday.
