A post mortem will be carried out in Auckland today following the recovery of a body from a hot pool in Kuirau Park, Rotorua, yesterday afternoon (Tuesday, 13 October).
Police believe the person to be a local man, but it is not anticipated that police will be able to confirm the man’s identity until Thursday at the earliest.
In the meantime enquiries are continuing and no further police comment is expected until identity can be confirmed. The death is still being treated as unexplained at this stage.
