Invercargill Police remind people to secure their property

There has been a spate of burglaries and motor vehicles that have been broken into over the last two of weeks in the Invercargill area.  
 
Vehicles have been targeted that have been parked up driveways and on street fronts left insecure, or with valuables left in plain sight.
 
Police remind the public to ensure that their properties, including farm buildings, fuel tanks and vehicles are secured at night time or when left unattended.
 
If you're away from your house for any length of time, let your neighbours know so they can keep an eye on your property. 
 
Record the serial numbers of tools and valuable items, or mark these with an identifier that can be traced to your property. 
 
In addition, when you leave your vehicle, make sure it is locked and that you don't leave valuable items in it.
 
Police also ask members of the public to report any suspicious activity which they observe.
 
Any members of the public who have information in relation to the recent offending, or any other dishonesty offending, are asked to contact the Invercargill Police Station on 03 211 0400.
 
Information can also be provided anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
 
If anyone observes any suspicious behaviour, please contact the Police immediately on 111.
