Invercargill Police say they are investigating an alleged incident of racial abuse which occurred in a taxi in the central city early on Friday morning (26 July 2013) at approximately 1am.
The incident occurred after a taxi driver picked up a man in his mid-40s in the inner city.
Police say the man appears to have been intoxicated at the time.
Following the incident, the taxi driver has driven to the Invercargill Police station and spoken to Police at the counter.
Police inquiries are continuing and Police intend to speak with the victim again.
