Invercargill burglaries

1 min read

Invercargill Police are currently investigating a large number of burglaries that have occurred over the last four weeks around the South Invercargill area.

Items being targeted include jewellery, wallets and cell phones.

A suspect for the majority of these burglaries has been identified as an 11 year old female who it is believed is approaching home owners with a fabricated story in order to gain entry into the address where items are then stolen from.  It is believed she is also entering unlocked homes at times that residents are inside.

Police remind the public to ensure that that their homes and vehicles are secured at all times.

If anyone observes this female or any suspicious behaviour please contact Police immediately on 111.

Any members of the public with information which may relate to these offences can call Invercargil Police on ph 03 211 0400.

Information can also be provided anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
