Injuries not suspicious

1 min read

Manawatü Police are not treating the injuries sustained by a 33-year-old victim as suspicious or seeking anyone in relation, after they were found by a member of the public in Palmerston North on Sunday 22 June, 2014.

Detective Johnny Oram, officer in charge of the investigation says: "We have completed our investigation and corroborated witness information including speaking with the victim's friends and local businesses. It appears the victim's injuries are not suspicious and were sustained after they fell from a tree they climbed. The scene examination and evidence also confirms this as well as the injuries sustained with the fall."

"The victim's family have been informed of the investigation outcome. The victim remains in a serious but stable condition in the Wellington Hospital.

"I want to thank the members of the public who called emergency services upon finding the victim and giving first aid," says Detective Oram.

Police seek the support of media in respecting the privacy of the victim's family at this difficult time.

Please note: police will not be giving interviews on this matter as the investigation is now complete.
