A 24 year-old Otara man is dead and his cousin is in Middlemore Hospital after an altercation at a relative’s 21st birthday party.
Police were called to the Fisher Cres, Otara, property at about 1am where they found Chevy Midas Davis dead on the driveway at the front of the property and his cousin, a 28 year old man, badly injured inside.
The 28 year-old’s condition has improved since being transported to hospital and Detective Senior Sergeant Ross Ellwood of Counties/Manukau Police says medical staff have advised the man’s injuries are no longer life-threatening.
“We will get underway with a scene examination at the property today and continue trying to locate those people who we understand attended the party thrown to celebrate the 21st of a young woman who was related to Chevy Davis.
“No arrests have been made in connection with his death which was a tragic way to end the celebrations of another young person coming of age.”
Anyone who has information that could assist the Police investigation into Mr Davis’ death should contact Counties/Manukau Police on 021 191 0881 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
