Police are warning motorists to take care on the roads with high winds set to hit the Gisborne area tonight.
Severe gales, with gusts of 120 km/h in exposed places, are anticipated in Gisborne from late Saturday night until dawn Sunday.
Such high winds can make driving hazardous, with motorcyclists and drivers of high sided vehicles urged to take extra care.
People need to be aware that these winds will also affect items around their properties such as garden furniture and trampolines. ENDS
