Police have made five arrests in relation to a series of aggravated robberies involving cash in transit vans across Auckland.
Operation Mini saw Police focus on the robberies that occurred over a three month period in Mt Roskill, Royal Oak, Mt Wellington and Papatoetoe.
Three of the four robberies involved offenders targeting vans that were uplifting cash from commercial premises. The fourth robbery targeted a foreign cash exchange premise in Papatoetoe.
Police have arrested two 25-year-old males, a 26-year-old male, a 22-year-old female and a 16-year-old male who are facing a raft of charges including aggravated robbery, aggravated burglary and unlawful taking of motor vehicle.
“A large team of investigators have been working on this and we are pleased with the outcome. However, our work is not done and we are still looking to locate others involved in these robberies. Crimes of this nature are upsetting and traumatic for those involved and these offenders need to be held to account,” said Detective Sergeant John de Heer.
Police are not ruling out further arrests and additional charges are likely.
