Police have released the name of the Feilding woman who died at Palmerston North Hospital yesterday.
She was 49 year old Karen Makoare.
A homicide inquiry is now underway and a post mortem examination was completed in Palmerston North today.
"Police have spoken to a number of Karen's associates, including those who interacted with her in the days leading up to her being admitted to Palmerston North Hospital," said Detective Senior Sergeant Craig Sheridan.
"The investigation is ongoing and we have further inquiries to make, including seeking expert medical advice about a head injury which Karen had sustained." said Mr Sheridan.
