Canterbury Police can confirm that the man critically injured in a workplace incident at around 10.15am this morning has died in hospital.
The death has been referred to the Coroner. No further details of the deceased will be released until formal identification and the process to inform next of kin has been completed.
Detective Sergeant Colin Baillie says initial observations are that the man appears to have been caught between a stationary and moving vehicle. “A scene examination has been completed and a number of people who witnessed the incident have been spoken to. There are still other people yet to be formally interviewed by Police.”
A Police investigation into the incident is continuing.
WorkSafe NZ have been advised and are also conducting their own investigation.
