The driver of a truck that crashed into two houses in Papatoetoe on Sunday morning has been declared dead at the scene.
At about 5.30am, the truck clipped the roof of a house on Great South Road before hitting a second property, where a balcony collapsed, trapping the driver.
A number of emergency services are at the scene, including the Police serious crash unit.
The truck is embedded in the house and it will be some time before the scene is cleared. Diversions are in place at Great South Road and Central Avenue.
