At 11.30 am on Monday 11th January 2016 there was a fatal vehicle crash at the corner of Thames and Eden Streets, Oamaru.
Fire, Police and multiple Ambulances attended the crash.
Initial enquiries show that a vehicle drove onto the Southern footpath colliding with 3 pedestrians, continuing back onto Thames Street where it was struck by two motor vehicles.
A 67 year old male pedestrian died at the scene. A 70 year old female suffered multiple injuries and was transported to Dunedin Hospital. A 13 year old female was treated for injuries at Oamaru Hospital.
All three drivers involved in the crash were also taken to Oamaru Hospital for treatment.
Police would like to thank members of the public wo came to assist all the injured people. Anyone who has any information about the crash or witnessed it are asked to contact the Oamaru Police.
