At 2.04pm on Saturday 11th July 2015, Police were advised of a serious motor crash on State Highway 3 near Sanson, Palmerston North.
A 4 x 4 wheel drive motor vehicle and a car have collided head on.
The sole occupant of the car has died as a result of his injuries and two occupants of the 4 x 4 wheeled drive vehicle, have suffered serious injuries.
Road diversions are in place in the area, via Mount Stewart Halcombe Road and these may be in place for several hours whilst a detailed examination takes place.
Fire, Ambulance and Police including the Serious Crash Unit are all in attendance at the scene.
There will be no further media updates until next of kin are advised and the next update is not expected until 9am on Sunday 12 July 2015.
