The investigations team working on Operation Sabine, the homicide investigation in Nelson following the death of Senior Sergeant Lyn Fleming, ask that anyone with photos or footage of the incident, to please upload it here.
At about 6.20pm Emergency Services responded to an incident at Waikaia where a 30 year old male who had been operating machinery at the gold mine had been involved in a serious incident.
As a result of this incident the man has sustained critical injuries from which he subsequently died.
Worksafe New Zealand have been notified and will be investigating the incident.
The name of the deceased man will be released once next of kin have been advised.
