Police are currently in attendance at a fatal incident involving a man and a train at the level crossing on Budge Street in Blenheim.
It happened at about 3.15pm. Police do not believe there are any suspicious circumstances and the matter will now be referred to the coroner.
The train is currently blocking the level crossing, so motorists and pedestrians are asked to avoid the area for the next couple of hours. Pedestrians can use the nearby Dillons Point footbridge.
