Canterbury Police were alerted to an incident involving a tractor on private farmland near Oxford shortly before midnight last night (23 March 2015). One person has been confirmed as deceased at the scene.
The death has been referred to the Coroner who will determine the cause of death. No details of the deceased will be released until formal identification has taken place and the process to inform next of kin has been completed.
Canterbury Police investigations are ongoing. WorkSafe New Zealand have been advised.
Canterbury Police will not be making any further comment this morning.
