Counties Manukau Police Serious Crash Unit is continuing its investigation into a fatal crash which occurred on the Whitford-Maraetai Road at around 6am on Tuesday 10 March.
A Police officer on his way to work was the first at the scene of the crash and called emergency services.
28 year old Clay Huxtable was confirmed deceased at the scene. He was the sole occupant of the grey Toyota Starlet.
A 35 year old woman was taken to hospital with minor injuries. She was driving a black 2014 Dodge Journey, which received relatively minor damage in the crash.
Police are interested to hear from anyone who may have seen the two vehicles involved at any time prior to the crash, on the Whitford-Maraetai Road or surrounds.
“The cause of the crash has not yet been determined, but we will be considering speed and alcohol as possible factors,” says Serious Crash Investigator Constable Amy Weston.
“Our thoughts are with the family of Mr Huxtable at this difficult time.”
Anyone who may be able to assist with information about the crash is asked to contact Constable Weston on 09 215 6118. Information can be provided anonymously to the organisation Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
