Police can now release the name of the 19 year-old male who died as a result of a single vehicle crash yesterday in Mayfield* as Henry Thomas Boyd.
It appears speed, alcohol, fatigue, failure to wear a seatbelt and illegal vehicle modifications were all factors in this incident.
“Being advised their son or daughter has died as a result of a vehicle crash is a parents worst nightmare. Every death on our roads is one too many: the tragedy in this case is that at 19, Henry had his whole life ahead of him." says Senior Sergeant Kelly Larsen, Officer in Charge of the Canterbury Specialist Road Policing group.
“Road safety is a collective responsibility. Police urge everyone to be pro-active about ensuring their own driving behaviour, and that of their friends and family, results in a safe journey, particularly over this Easter holiday period."
