Experienced guide injured on Mt Cook

1 min read

At 11am this morning an experienced climbing guide fell 20m along a moderate slope.  The guide was leading two clients on Aylmer Col in Aoraki/Mt Cook National Park.  The two clients are uninjured.

The guide radioed for help when she couldn’t bear weight on one of her legs after the fall and was initially airlifted to emergency services at Mt Cook village for assessment.  She is currently being transported by Westpac Helicopter to Christchurch Hospital for treatment for a leg injury.

Worksafe New Zealand are investigating.
