At 7.55am this morning (Wednesday, 28 October) there was a collision between a van and cyclist at the intersection of Waihi Road and Churchill Road, Tauranga.
The cyclist, a 30-year-old local man, sustained serious head and neck injuries and is described as being in a critical condition in Tauranga Hospital.
Police would like to speak with the driver of a vehicle travelling towards Tauranga City who is understood to have given way to the van as it turned right from Waihi Road into Churchill Road just prior to the collision.
Police are also asking for witnesses to the crash, who have not yet been spoken to by police, to call Tauranga Police Station on 07 5774300.
