Motorists are advised to avoid Whitford Road, in Auckland, following a serious crash.
Police and emergency services were called after a concrete truck rolled and went down the bank near Mangemangeroa Gorge Bridge about 1pm today.
The driver of the truck, and only occupant of the vehicle, was transported to Middlemore Hospital with serious injuries.
The Serious Crash Unit is in attendance.
Part of the road is closed and diversions are currently in place at Whitford and Sommerville Roads, and Whitford and Broomfields Roads.
The road could be closed for several hours and Police are asking motorists to avoid the area or take alternative routes.
Motorists should expect delays.
