Come and meet your Everyday Heroes!
Following a successful event in 2013, Counties Manukau Police presents another opportunity to get up close and personal with the Everyday Heroes that keep you safe in the community, an event supported by Auckland Council. Between 10am and 2pm on Saturday 22 February 2014 at Sir Barry Curtis Park, Flatbush, a range of interesting and exciting emergency services displays and demonstrations will be on show for the whole family to enjoy.
With not only the Police, Fire Service and St John's attending, the efforts of other organisations, groups and volunteers that help keep the community safe will also be celebrated.
Counties Manukau Police District Commander Superintendent John Tims says the day proved to be a great success last year, and Police are relishing the opportunity to get the community more engaged in the work they do.
"People are always interested in the work we do so we want get the community involved to see how it all works," he says. "The event allows us to show everyone firsthand all the exciting things that happen behind the scenes, while keeping it engaging and fun. We are delighted that other community organisations are joining in to really make it a day to remember.
"Our goal is to keep everyone safe and ensure they feel safe in Counties Manukau and we hope that the Everyday Heroes event will help us achieve this. Every year emergency services are called to thousands of incidents that affect the community so it's definitely a relevant cause."
The free 'access all areas' event includes a Police dog demonstration, a taser demonstration and top Counties Manukau Detectives sharing their skills in crime scene examination, exhibiting their impressive skills with serious crime case study. Fire trucks and ambulances will be at the event, along with the Armed Offenders Squad, Police Recruiting, Coastguard, Customs and many others. Police horses are also coming to the event all the way from the Waikato District.
Constable Bryan and Bobby will host the event, ensuring it will be an enjoyable day for children and parents alike.
"The whole family will be able to see how the emergency services work and experience what they do each day to be our Everyday Heroes," says Mr Tims. "It's essential that we get the community involved in the work we do."
Entry is free for this family friendly event, so do not miss out.
