Christchurch Police have arrested a 22 year old male and requested the removal of two social media pages during a crackdown on the sale of synthetic cannabis.
Christchurch Field Intelligence Officer Constable Darren Sims said police have noticed a dramatic increase in the availability of illegal substances on social media sites since synthetic cannabis was made illegal in May.
"Police are receiving information on a regular basis from members of the public who are keen to help and are passionate about getting drugs off our streets and out of our community,” Mr Sims said.
"We have identified and spoken to people selling and offering to sell drugs on social media sites and warned them about their actions. If they choose to carry on then we'll take the next step and prosecute."
