Police are searching for three men in their early twenties who committed a cowardly attack on two brothers at approximately 1am on Sunday morning.
The attack took place on St Asaph St, between Colombo St and Durham St.
There was an altercation between the two victims and the alleged offenders. After the altercation was broken up by security officers and friends of the victims, one of the alleged offenders has king hit one of the victims. His brother attempted to help and they both sustained serious injuries.
One of the victims is in hospital under observation with a significant head injury. The other received treatment for facial fractures and has now been discharged from hospital.
Police are seeking witnesses to the assault and asks anyone who may be able to identify the men involved to come forward. Please see the attached photos.
One of the men is described as a Caucasian with ginger or brown curly hair. He is of stocky build and around 5’ 8” – 5’ 11" tall. He was wearing a light coloured button-down long sleeve shirt with dark coloured pants and shoes.
The other two men are believed to be Maori. One is described as stocky and the other is described as skinny. They were both wearing dark coloured clothing.
Police are also seeking to identify a silver Subaru Legacy which was seen in the area.
