Christchurch Police appeal for information following an alleged gunshot in Hei Hei

1 min read

Christchurch Police were called to a Hei Hei address this afternoon following reports a man suffered a gunshot wound to the leg.

A man left the address on foot and two nearby schools, St Bernadette’s School and Hornby High School, have been placed into lock down as a precaution.

The man who has left the address is described as Maori or Pacific Islander in his 20s. He was wearing a red and blue checked shirt and jeans.

The public are advised not to approach this man but to call 111 if they see a man matching this description. Anyone with any information into this man's whereabouts is asked to also come forward.

Police believe all parties are known to each other and that this was an isolated incident.

Police do not believe there is any reason for the public to be concerned for their safety.
