Police have found the blue car they were looking for in relation to the crash on SH2 south of Wairoa at the weekend that killed three men.
Appeals have been made this week for information about the car, which police believed may have been involved in the crash that occurred near the Mohaka Viaduct on Saturday.
Detective Senior Sergeant Brent Greville said the car was found today in Raupunga and was being sent to Gisborne for forensic examination.
“At this stage we cannot confirm that it was involved, but a forensic examination will help us determine if it played a part in the crash,” Mr Greville said.
Police are still trying to establish who was in the vehicle at the time of the crash.
“We are in the process of speaking to numerous people in the Raupunga area so hopefully some new information will come to light that will help with that aspect of the inquiry,” Mr Greville said.
