Police confirm that a 3½ month old baby boy was flown to Christchurch Hospital by helicopter in a critical condition on Saturday 30 August 2014. The baby was taken off life support just after 3am the following day (31 August 2014).
Police are currently undertaking a criminal investigation into this matter and have spoken with a number of people in the Selwyn area in relation to this incident.
The death has been referred to the coroner.
The investigation is on-going and Police will not be making any further comment at this time.
