Police located cannabis, cash and stolen property during a search warrant at a Moerewa address last week.
About 7.30 am on Thursday October 30 Kawakawa Police staff, assisted by members of the Far North Area Prevention Team, entered the property in Moerewa.
During Thursday's search Police found cannabis tinnies prepared for sale and $500 cash which Police believe came from previous sales and stolen property.
A 44-year-old Moerewa man appeared in the Kaikohe District Court on Thursday charged with possession of cannabis for supply and selling cannabis. He was remanded in custody to appear in court again on November 18. Once other enquiries are completed it is expected that the man will face further charges relating to the stolen property.
Kawakawa Sergeant Kevin Milne says this is a direct result of staff actively targeting drug dealers and thieves.
“Our staff are passionate about making these communities a safe place to live and bring up families. Drug dealers and thieves contribute nothing to the wellbeing of a community and they are simply not wanted. If they won’t stop their dealing on their own then we will do what we can to stop them.”
