Body recovered in search for missing man

Southland Police have today recovered the body of a 69 year-old Invercargill man from the Mokoreta River in Southland.

The man, Neil Stirling, was reported missing to police yesterday and police have been coordinating the search with 30 LandSAR volunteers with assistance from a search dog and a helicopter.

As there is nothing suspicious in relation to the death, it has been referred to the coroner.

As the matter has now been referred to the coroner, police will no be commenting further.
