Cromwell Police yesterday were called to a caravan park in the town after a body was found in a caravan stored on site.
Police say the body is thought to be that of a male and appears to have been in the caravan for a considerable period of time.
A scene examination will begin today with the assistance of ESR scientists and a pathologist.
A post-mortem will be carried out in the next few days to identify the person and to provide information that will assist in determining whether or not the circumstances could be suspicious.
The body was found by the caravan owner who was doing a pre-season check of the vehicle which had been in storage for over a year.
