A 29-year-old man has been arrested in relation to a series of recent burglaries in Christchurch.
Police conducted a search warrant at a Hillsborough property yesterday (Wednesday 21 November) and found a number of stolen antiques and collectable items.
A search of the same address in August recovered over $100,000 worth of antiques.
The man, charged with six counts of burglary, has been remanded in custody and is due to reappear in Christchurch District Court on Monday 17 December.
Acting Detective Senior Sergeant Joel Syme says the elderly owner of some of the antiques was very grateful for their return.
“It can be very upsetting to be the victim of this type of crime but a few simple actions can help ensure your home, vehicle and belongings are secure.
“For example, keep your doors locked, even when you’re at home, keep your spare key in a safe place and consider installing an alarm or sensor lights.”
