Media are advised that, while the original information available on this matter stated the man and his associates were 'followed for 90 minutes,' they were in fact in a 'fleeing driver' situation for about eight of the 90 minutes between the first incident in Molesworth Place, Mangere, at 12.52pm today and the time they were located in Ventura St and Bader Drive, Mangere, at about 2.16pm.
Police were not pursuing the arrested man and his associates for 90 minutes.
At 1.50pm an unarmed Police unit observed the alleged offender mobile in Otahuhu and notified the Northern Communications Centre. Armed Police were then dispatched to the area. At 1.55pm the alledged offender fled in a vehicle from Police and he was followed through Mt Wellington, Otahuhu and onto Mangere where he was subsequently arrested.
