Police are appealing for anyone who has seen these two distinctive items of jewellery - an Olympic bracelet and pin. They were taken during a burglary earlier this week from a property in the north-eastern suburb of Christchurch.
As we move into summer, Police would like to take this opportunity to remind people to keep their property secure, close doors and windows when they are not in their house or are at the rear of the property.
Many burglaries are opportunistic crimes so report anything out of the ordinary in your neighbourhood. There are many simple things that you can do to prevent yourself becoming a victim such as keeping valuables out of sight and setting your house alarm.
SNAP is an initiative of the New Zealand Police that aims to prevent burglary and property offending by making it harder for stolen goods to be sold. The SNAP website www.snap.org.nz allows you to enter and maintain serial numbers and other details about your possessions and assets.
If anyone has seen these items or knows where they might be, please call Christchurch Police on 03 363 7400.
Information can also be provided anonymously by calling Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
