Alexandra Police are seeking witnesses in relation to a burglary that occurred at around 02:30am, this morning, at the Alexandra Heights Motel, on Centennial Avenue, Alexandra.
The lone occupier of an upper level unit was asleep in bed, when they awoke to find an unknown male present within the room.
It appears that nothing was taken during the incident, however police are appealing for witnesses who may have seen the person involved.
The Victim, who was unhurt during the brief incident, described the male as being a fair complexioned Maori or Polynesian, aged between 20 – 30 years of slight build and approximately 175 – 177cm (5’5” – 5’7”) tall.
The male is further described as having slightly wavy black hair with a high brow, who spoke with a high pitched voice and appeared timid when confronted.
The male was wearing a distinctive floral design collared shirt, described as being red, white and black in colour as well as a pair of black pants.
The officer in charge of this matter, Detective Alan LEE, stated that a scene examination had been completed where a number of forensic exhibits had been recovered for analysis.
LEE appealed to the public for assistance stating that “The description of this man is such that a friend or family member could not help but recognise them”.
LEE went on to say that “The priority for Police is to ensure that no further persons are put at risk and I would ask anyone who believes they may be able to help, to call Alexandra Police Station on 03 440 2500 or, if they wish to speak anonymously, to ring Crime Stoppers, on 0800 555 111”.
