Henderson Police Hunt Male Intruder

Henderson Police are hunting a male intruder who surprised and attacked a young woman in her Henderson home last night.

Detective Sergeant Murray Free of the Waitakere CIB says the attack happened at about 10.10pm on Tuesday 16 June 2009. The incident took place at a residential address located close to Henderson Primary School.

"The male offender has stolen credit cards from victim in the attack."

"The offender is described as stocky build and is aged 20 - 40 years."

"This offender must have had a vehicle or bike parked in nearby street."

"On three occasions between 10.30pm last night and 3.00am this morning Wednesday 17 June 2009, the stolen credit cards have been used at the Westpac ATM machine at the Rathgar Road shops, Henderson."

"The offender has spent some time at the ATM machine using several different cards. There will be someone who saw him," Murray Free said.

"Police are appealing to the public for any sightings of the male and his vehicle in the vicinity of Great North Road, Montel Avenue, Newington Road, or Ciprian Place, between 9.30pm and 10.15pm on 16 June 2009."

"Someone will also have seen this man near the Rathgar Road shops between 10.20pm and 3.30am. We strongly believe he could be a resident in this area."

"The 21 year old victim has been assisted by Victim Support, friends and family. She is recovering slowly from her ordeal."

"The circumstances surrounding the attack will not be revealed by police to protect the victim's privacy. The victim did not know her attacker."

"Police investigators [12] have been carrying out enquiries related to this attack throughout West Auckland today and these will continue tonight. CCTV images will be sought during these enquiries," Murray Free said.
