Mother of Two Last Seen Five Weeks Ago

2 min read

Rodney Police believe a Whangaparaoa mother of two, who has been missing for the past five weeks, may be in Northland.

Detective Mark Palma of the Orewa CIB, says concern is rapidly mounting for the safety and well being of 39 year old Alanah Brough.

"The last sighting of this missing woman was at about 8.30pm on Friday 30 January 2009. A neighbour has seen Ms Brough leaving her Whangaparaoa address on foot. She lives with her two sons and mother at the address."

"Ms. Brough had earlier taken her dog for a walk. She appears to have then abandoned the dog. When it was later found by a ranger at Stanmore Bay it was without its collar. A search of the house later located this item. It's apparent the collar's been taken off by Ms BROUGH before walking the dog."

"Ms. Brough has unknown mental health or drug issues. She recently abandoned her Toyota Camry car at South Head, Helensville after driving it off an embankment." [On 29 January 2009, the day before she went missing)

  • BROUGH is described as thin build.   • She is 170cm in height with blond hair.   • She has braces on top row of teeth.   • Last seen wearing tan coloured trousers,   • A black mid-jacket, possibly black boots.   • She has a Tattoo of a swallow on right foot.   • She may use the name 'Tracey'.

"In January 2009 Ms. Brough took her two sons aged seven and fourteen years, to a camping ground near Matauri Bay during which time her demeanor was described as unusual."

"There has been a recent sighting by a member of the public of a female fitting the description of Ms Brough in Ruakaka. This suggests that the missing woman may have returned to the Northland region," Detective Palma said.
