A series of vehicle crashes around Hamilton has Police calling for drivers to show a bit of courteously and patience as the city becomes congested with last minute shoppers.
Yesterday there were seven vehicle crashes reported on city streets, the worst involving four vehicles at the entrance to the Base shopping centre, and numerous nose to tails around car parks.
Waikato Road Policing Manager, Inspector Leo Tooman, said drivers just needed to take a deep breath and slow down.
"We're all in the same boat, we've all left it too late and we all have 'must do' jobs to be done.
"There's been quite a few situations where drivers have gone to reverse into car parks and people who would never have dreamed of doing it before, dart in and steal the park which would really brass you off."
Mr Tooman said people didn't need to cruise the city looking for a car park when they could make use of car park buildings and save a lot of hassles.
"It will save a lot of stress and the Hamilton City Council Car Park building has three hours of free car parking the public can take advantage of."
