1 min read

The homicide inquiry into the death of Mr Abdulrahman IKHTIARI remains focussed on identifying two people who witnesses have reported near the scene.

Both men were dark skinned with short dark hair, both about 180cm tall, of medium athletic build and in their mid twenties. One was wearing a white top and dark trousers while the other was wearing a dark top, possibly a jacket and a white cap or bandanna.

Movements of Mr Ikhtiari's taxi, cab 83 of the United Taxi Company, between 12.00 pm and 1.00 am on Friday night/Saturday morning are also still sought.

"Since yesterday we have recovered security camera footage from the vicinity of Worcester Street where this vehicle and Mr Ikhtiari were found," says DSS Mike Johnson."

This footage shows a number of vehicles driving past during the time the taxi is seen parked in the street. One of these vehicles is a dark coloured sedan which was seen just before 1am. Police appeal to any people driving in this area at the relevant times to contact them.

After the post mortem examination police believe that the weapon used had a blade of at least 140 mm long and 20 mm wide.

"Once again, I would appeal to any occupants or owners of property in or around that area to check their properties and advise us if they locate any items that may be related," says DSS Johnson.

DSS Johnson says that the offenders possibly have blood on their clothes and are agitated in their behaviour.

"We would appeal for anyone with information about this crime to contact the Police urgently."
