Thames Police are seeking the public's assistance in finding a man in black who they believe robbed a pharmacy in the town yesterday afternoon,

Detective Sergeant Steve Honiss of Thames CIB said the man entered the Total Health Pharmacy on Pollen St about 1pm.

"He was armed with a large knife and made the staff lie on the floor before he made off with a sum of cash and a quantity of controlled drugs.

"The staff are understandably quite shaken by their ordeal," he said.

Described as a man in his mid-twenties the offender was described as having an olive complexion, dark hair, of medium height with medium to solid build.

He was wearing black trousers, black shoes, black hooded sweatshirt and a white beanie. Once inside the store the offender hid his face behind a black scarf.

Mr Honiss said Police want to hear from anyone who recalls seeing the man entering or leaving the pharmacy or saw him standing outside the Thames National Bank branch on Pollen St immediately prior to the robbery.

Anyone with information on the robbery or the identity of the offender is asked to contact Detective Constable Paul Bowman of Thames CIB on 07 867964.
